On-Stage Question: 20%
Ms. America® must be articulate, with excellent social and conversational skills. She must be able to express herself clearly, diplomatically and must project a pleasant personality at all times. Ms. America® is able to state her opinion in a positive, decisive manner. Attention is focused on articulation, quality of response, ability to think on her feet, charisma, confidence, personality and overall appearance and performance in the pageant.

Ms. America will speak on her platform through out her reign. Each contestant will have a miximum of 30 seconds to answer a question about her chosen platform.

THE PAGEANT HAS NOT MADE A DECISION WHICH FORMAT WILL BE USED FOR ON-STAGE QUESTION.

ON STAGE QUESTION

Interview Competition: 20%
Contestant's are being interviewed for the position of Ms. America® 2012. The panel of judges will spend 5 minutes asking questions to learn about the contestant’s successes, talents, goals and ambitions. Attention is focused on her poise, charm, self-confidence and her ability to articulate, as well as the substance of her answers.

  • Contestant's will be asked to give a brief introduction about themselves.
  • Contestant's can be asked questions based on the Judges Interview Sheet that is submitted to the pageant.
  • Judges are given the program book ahead of time and can ask questions based on your Program Book Ad(s).
  • The pageant is seeking an ambitious, enthusiastic winner who is dedicated and committed to making appearances throughout the upcoming year. Judges will not hesitate to inquire of the contestants to what extent they are prepared to devote their time to promotional activities.
  • Ms. America Pageant is interested in a queen who would like to help the pageant grow.

Runway Fashion & Style: 20%

Ms. America is seen and photographed at many red carpet, charity and gala events. This is your chance to project your own personal sense of style and fashion essence on our 30' runway! Each contestant will model an outfit of her own choosing that reflects her personality and shows off her flair for fashion and style on the catwalk. The contestant's outfit should be a currently popular and a stylish ensemble that she would wear to a special event.

NO-FULL LENGTH EVENING GOWNS are to be worn during this part of the competition. Contestant's are encouraged to accessorize with scarves, hats, jackets, jewelry, hair accessories, fur, etc.

Judges are looking for the contestant's fashion sense and style and how well it suits her personality as well as her on-stage presentation.

Sportswear Competition: 20%
Ms. America ® exudes confidence and embodies a healthy and fit woman. Contestant will choose what makes her feel good and can represent her extracurricular activity and fitness level. Contestants are judged on overall first impression, personality, stage presence, sense of confidence, being physically fit, execution of movement, energy and health. Choice of attire can be an aerobic outfit with midriff exposed. Contestant is allowed to wear nylons. No bare feet! Tennis shoes are acceptable. Shorts, yoga or aerobic pants need to be upper-thigh or longer. Take into consideration that you are on a raised stage and the judges are looking up!
  • No booty shorts or bra tops. 
  • No swimsuits or aerobic outfits that look like a swimsuit.
  • No shorts that look like swimsuit bottoms or short-shorts.
  • No props or costumes.
  • No tattoos or body piercings exposed. Tattoos can be covered up with body makeup.
  • No dance club outfits.
  • No hockey or other padded outfits.

Outfit Ideas: Tennis, running/jogging, yoga, aerobics, cycling, jazz, golf, etc.

Evening Gown Competition: 20%
Ms. America® carries herself with dignity, grace, poise and elegance at all times. Attention is focused on each contestant's overall appearance, self-confidence, poise, sense of style, grooming, modeling of gown in terms of technique, elegance and the beauty she brings to the gown of her choice. A gown that complements her and her figure is very important. Footwear should be high heels that are clear or match the color of your gown.

20% Evening Gown (scored 1-15 points)
20% On-Stage Question (scored 1-15)

13-15 Excellent
10-12 Very Good
7-9 Good
4-6 Average
1-3 Below Average

High and low scores are dropped in each category. The winner is chosen by an overall point system. The contestant with the highest points accumulation is announced as the new Ms. America® 2012.


JUDGES


National judges panel will be comprised of highly qualified individuals who are previous titleholders, entertainment professionals, business owners, media personalities and celebrities. The Ms. America® Pageant has the sole authority and discretion to select the judges panel and Special Award judge(s). Separate judge(s) will evaluate and pick the Special Award winners. Special Award scores will have nothing to do with the scoring or outcome of who is chosen Ms. America®. Judges names will be released at the sole discretion of the Ms. America® Pageant. Judges are educated and informed of the pageant judging procedures, expectation and processes prior to and upon arrival at the National Pageant.

Contestants are not permitted to converse with, approach or otherwise interact including electronically with any of the judges during the entire course of the national pageant. Contestants violating this will risk disqualification. Judges are also instructed not to converse with, approach or otherwise interact with Contestants during the entire course of the national pageant, other than during scheduled competitive events. Judges may view contestant rehearsals.
